On June 2, 2008, World Access officially changed its name to Mondial Assistance.
How does this affect RTO/ERO Health Plan participants?
Under Mondial Assistance, RTO/ERO Health Plan participants continue to enjoy the same assistance services previously offered. There are no changes to the plan design. While the contact numbers for any travel inquiries or emergencies do not change from those listed in your Health Insurance Plans booklets, Health Plan participants who call World Access will be greeted with, "Mondial Assistance, formerly World Access."
(information found in Fall Renaissance 2008, Health Wise pull-out booklet)

Travel Concerns
If travelling Out of Province/Canada, read carefully the Group Benefits Information provided for you in the OUT-OF-PROVINCE/CANADA TRAVEL BOOKLET which will be included with your Health Booklets.
Always travel with your RTO/ERO Out-of-Province/Canada Travel booklet.
Typical questions regarding Out-Of-Province/Canada coverage are:
(1) Is it necessary to notify Johnson Inc. of any planned trip, prior to departure?
ANSWER: The Extended Health Care Plan includes Out-Of-Province/Canada emergency medical benefits for trips of up to 62 days in duration .Neither Johnson Inc. nor World Access Canada has to be notified of any planned Out-Of-Province/Canada trips of up to 62 days in duration. If the trip exceeds 62 days, supplemental travel coverage should be purchased.
Travel Issues - Whether out of province or out of country, your time of departure is when you leave the province. Be sure to keep note of when you depart the province. NOTE: Proof of your departure date from your province would be required if there were a claim. Examples of such proof are...an airline ticket, boarding pass and credit card receipt with the traveller’s signature.
There are clearly stated conditions about when you can leave the province which would limit your insurance coverage (for example; if you were at a cottage in Quebec and proceeded from there to go for an extended holiday in the United Sates, your 62 days out of province (-time leaving Ontario-) would be considered to have started when you went to Quebec).
(2)What is the proper procedure for cancellation of an airline ticket?
ANSWER: Mondial Assistance must be notified as soon as possible, but no later than immediately prior to the scheduled date of departure. Trip cancellation claims submitted after the scheduled date of departure will not be eligible for payment. The actual airline ticket or other pre-paid travel service should be cancelled at the time you become aware of the necessity to cancel the trip. This should be done through the travel agent.
The World Wide Assistance has been replaced by Mondial Assistance. The phone number is the same.

Health Appeal Process
Effective for all claims denied on or after April 2, 2007, RTO/ERO health plan participants who contact RTO/ERO about their denied claim, will be directed to a claims specialist from Johnson Inc. to discuss the rationale of the decision. If the participant is not in agreement with the reason from Johnson Inc. and contacts RTO/ERO again, the participant will receive information from RTO/ERO. This information will describe the review process and contain a form that the plan participant must complete and return to RTO/ERO in order for the claim to be reviewed. The plan participant will be required to specifically indicate what criterion/ia would apply in order to reverse the decision and have the claim paid.
The forms for the Benefit Entitlement Review can be obtained by contracting Melanie Johnson at the RTO/ERO provincial office.
