Socially Superb

In a continuing effort to build relationships, representatives from several educational organizations, teacher affiliates, and associations attended the Senate Dinner. These included: Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board; Ontario Teachers' Federation; the Teacher Affiliates (ETFO, OSSTF, AEFO, OECTA); the Public and Catholic Principals' Associations, Supervisory Officer Associations, and Trustee Associations; Ontario College of Teachers; Retired Women Teachers' of Ontario; Johnson Inc.; Maritime Life; and Travel Guild.

Following the meal, Senators and guests were treated to an exciting concert by Canadian folk/pop duo James Gordon and Sandy Hearne, with special guest Marion Linton. Gordon, the founder of the folk group Tamarack and a regular musical contributor to CBC's "Basic Black", and Horne, a member of the Canadian rock group The Spoons, combined their talents in a 45-minute concert that superbly entertained their audience. A highlight was the presentation of an "RTO/ERO Song", that will be available on CD to Districts/Units by early Fall.

On both Wednesday and Thursday mornings, District 36 members Joan Dawson and Harold Dinseen provided an in-pool demonstration of the Aquatic Fitness program that was featured on the cover of the September 2001 issue of the Magazine. Approximately 20 members attended the demonstration each morning.
