You can help end isolation for Canada's lonely seniors.
Sign up now and we'll send you a new "challenge email" each Tuesday in October. The challenges are designed to be fun and easy and to demonstrate the simple actions we can take to help others feel included and supported. You’ll also learn more about the issue of social isolation by being part of the campaign.
Social isolation affects 1 in 5 seniors and another 30% are at risk. Social isolation can contribute to anxiety and depression, poor physical health, higher rates of disease and dementia, and even suicide. Canadians over 65 have a higher suicide rate than any other age group - and men are at greatest risk.
This year the RTO/ERO Foundation is raising $100,000 for education, awareness and critical research projects to help socially isolated seniors. The campaign takes place during Social Isolation Awareness Month in October.
