Strategic Plan

The health and prosperity of seniors is of prime importance to the over 74,000 RTO/ERO members.  The RTO/ERO Foundation shares the belief that seniors are valuable and contributing members of society – that all are worthy of respect and deserve to age successfully and with dignity.

Our goal is to heighten our engagement with donors and RTO/ERO Members in order to raise and invest new funds for aging research and post secondary education in geriatrics and gerontology; and for innovative projects that contribute to reducing social isolation in seniors.

In late 2016, the Board of Directors of the RTO/ERO Foundation set out a 2-year plan to increase the capacity of the Foundation to do more to enhance the lives of older adults.

As such, five new grants were awarded in 2016, for a total of $150,000.

Our 2017 objectives centre on strategic investments, sharing stories about our impact, and providing our donors with a wide variety of opportunities to support the work of the Foundation. They include:

  • Granting $50,000 to community-based organizations focussed on reducing social isolation in older adults
  • Granting $50,000 for research and post-secondary training in Geriatrics and Gerontology
  • Utilizing multiple communications channels to communicate impact and share stories
  • Creating new opportunities for donors to provide support to the Foundation
  • Improving engagement and communications with the RTO/ERO’s 48 Districts and its Members

We look forward to reporting to our donors and friends on our progress towards these objectives.
